In the Cars.com article, titled "Chrysler Pacifica Vs. Honda Odyssey: Which Minivan Is the Car Seat Check Champ?," the author compared the effectiveness of both minivans through their LATCH system and the spaciousness of their seating arrangements. The Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children System (LATCH), and its variants, are a system of hooks and latches equipped on vehicles throughout the world in order to properly secure child safety and booster seats into the rear seats of your vehicle. Since 2002, the LATCH system has been a legal requirement for any new automobile manufactured in the United States, however, its accessibility can vary from vehicle to vehicle, as this article found out.
While the Chrysler Pacifica is another popular minivan choice for parents, its child safety seat anchors were found to be difficult to access without a great degree of forcefulness on the part of the driver. Whereas, the LATCH system of the Honda Odyssey proved to be quite accessible for booster seat installation and its rear seating offered more options for where you can put the child safety seats, as the Honda Odyssey has room for eight passengers (rather than the seven-passenger capacity of the Pacifica) thanks to second and third row bench seating.
