Unlike traditional transmissions that rely on physical gears or belt-and-pulley systems, Honda's eCVT is built around a Two-Motor Hybrid System with no conventional transmission at all. A gasoline engine works alongside two electric motors: one generates electricity from the engine to power the second, which drives the wheels directly.
At higher speeds, the engine can lock in and drive the wheels as well, delivering responsive power precisely when you need it. The result is a seamlessly smooth driving experience, with fewer mechanical components than a conventional automatic or CVT to worry about over time.
